The coastal region is the home of Kenya’s oldest city and probably Kenya's most vibrant and diverse community. Through sheer determination and strong will, Pwani people have built and sustained a strong identity and culture and have made an undeniable contribution to the growth of Kenya’s economy and global standing. Along the way there have been many challenges including barriers to government services and sometime even outright denial of participation. This week we engage the people of Pwani on their own dreams for the region and how they want to shape their democracy and participation.
